Chattanooga, TN – The National Rural Education Association is pleased to announce the appointment of John Glasgow to its Board of Directors as the Higher Education Representative. Glasgow is filling the open seat left by Dr. Darris Means’s new appointment to the President-Elect Designate position and will serve until the end of 2025.

Glasgow is currently the Associate Director of the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS). His work with AIRSS is largely focused on the Rural IL CTE Project, a collaborative effort between AIRSS, the Illinois State Board of Education, and the Western Illinois University Seymour Center of Rural Education. The primary goals of this effort are to better understand the needs and equity gaps of rural CTE programs through intentional research, and to provide targeted technical assistance to all Illinois rural and small schools.

“I am honored to serve out this remaining year as the Higher Education Representative,” said Glasgow. “I strongly believe in the power of research and data as drivers for rural school and student success. I am excited for this opportunity to bring my experience and expertise to the NREA Board.”

NREA looks forward to Glasgow’s contributions to our mission of supporting rural schools across the country.

The National Rural Education Association (NREA) was originally founded as the Department of Rural Education in 1907. It is the oldest established national organization in the United States dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for students, educators, and communities in rural America.
