The NREA sponsors as well as supports several programs for the betterment of education among rural schools in our nation. Please view these programs below and encourage your teachers and students to participate in them. View the winners of these programs on the Awards page.

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. It believes that youth are the future, and impacting the lives of the youth of today is extremely important to the cooperative community.

By helping to educate students and enhance their self-worth, NRECA hopes to ensure a stronger future for everyone. We are grateful for their support.

Each year the NRECA sponsors ten mini grants. Any rural K-12 classroom teacher whose school or community is served by a local Rural Electric Cooperative, or whose students’ homes are served by a local Rural Electric Cooperative, is eligible to apply for a mini-grant.
