The Rural School and Community Trust invites you to participate in a free webinar (an online seminar) on Tuesday, April 29 at 1 pm EDT. The presentation is titled: Engaging Students and Revitalizing Communities through Place-based Learning (PBL).  The interactive session will share strategies and successful examples for engaging disenfranchised students through PBL. Hear how your schools and community can institute changes for revitalization activities. Participants can ask questions either prior to or during the presentation.

2008 NREA CONVENTION

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

You are cordially invited to submit a proposal to make a presentation at the NREA Convention, “NREA, Opening Another Century in American Education.” Please read all application materials and complete the information requested in the Submission Outline.  Please be advised the number of workshop presentations will be limited to six Professional Learning Sessions, with eight workshops per session, on October 27-29, 2008 proposals for presentations must be submitted electronically.  The submission deadline is June 15, 2008.

Convention participants include rural school administrators, teachers, school board members, regional service agency personnel, Regional Educational laboratory staff members, university and college faculty, state and federal personnel, researchers, and business and industry representatives.
strong>Suggested Topics for Presentations•1.       Rural schools achieving quality through leadership, instruction, curriculum, and professional learning.

•2.       Rural schools building a community by keeping rural values and culture, while becoming part of a global community.•3. Rural schools in the digital age.  Where can technology take us?•4.       Rural schools looking to the future.  Where is rural education going and what will rural students need to succeed in life?

•5.       Rural school administration, governance, and finance. •6.       The state of rural education and rural America.•7.       Other rural issues.
