2008 EXEMPLARY PRACTICES OR PROGRAMS AWARD
The National Rural Education Association presents the Exemplary Practices or programs Award to recognize demonstrated exemplary practices or programs in one or more of the following areas:
- Curriculum development, staff development, or administrative practices to improve or provide more equitable educational opportunities for children and youth
- Enhancement of communications within and among local school districts
- Promotion and development of state and regional delivery systems which bring about efficient and effective education for children in rural areas
- Curriculum planning and/or instructional strategies to effectively utilize the rural environment and the characteristics of small schools
- Financial efficiency in school operations
Please review the criteria for the award and make as many nominations as you wish.
Application Deadline: July 1, 2008
The mailing address is on the nomination form. Nominations and supporting materials for the award will be received and evaluated by the NREA Awards and Recognition Committee. The committee will make recommendations to the NREA Executive Committee for final approval.
All nominees will receive a certificate of recognition for their efforts. The winner will receive $400, a plaque, and a complimentary registration to attend the NREA Convention. The winner will be notified prior to the NREA convention.

ANNOUNCE:
2008 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD
The National Rural Education Association presents the Outstanding Service Award to an individual NREA member to recognize an educator who consistently displays outstanding leadership in rural education. As an NREA member, you play a key role in the selection of the award recipient. Only individuals nominated by a member of the National Rural Education Association are eligible for the award.
Please review the criteria for the award and make as many nominations as you wish. This award is for an NREA member who has demonstrated contributions in one or more of the following areas:
- the development of leadership potential of rural youth and adults in a rural district or region
- the enhancement of rural community development
- supports and assists in furthering the effectiveness of communications between local school districts and business/industry, governmental agencies, and/or institutions of higher education
- facilitates partnerships among schools, between schools, and the private sector
- supports legislation to enhance rural schools and education
- supports exemplary practices
- promotes advocacy for rural education
- promotes leadership in the development of rural education related conferences and workshops
